While building my home, I reached a critical stage in construction only to discover that I had exhausted the funds needed to pay the contractor.
My dream suddenly felt uncertain.
Rather than allowing anxiety to consume me, I went for a Wind Walk through my neighborhood. Along the way I noticed the simple gifts surrounding me: beautiful gardens, children laughing, and a generous neighbor who regularly placed free bouquets of flowers on a cart for anyone who needed them.
Those small acts of abundance shifted something inside me.
When I returned home, I found an envelope waiting in my mailbox.
Inside was an unexpected check for exactly the amount I needed to make the next contractor payment.
That windfall carried me forward until my construction loan was approved, reminding me that abundance often arrives in ways we could never have planned.
How Can You Welcome a Windfall?
Windfall encourages us to look beyond what appears to be disruption and ask:
What unexpected blessing might be hidden here?
Am I willing to receive support in forms I never anticipated?
Sometimes abundance appears as money.
Sometimes it arrives as a conversation, a new friendship, an opportunity, renewed health, or simply the insight needed to move forward.
The practice is not about chasing miracles. It is about becoming aware of the gifts already falling around us.
Windfall Ritual
Find a quiet place outdoors, ideally near an orchard, garden, or a place where you can feel the movement of the wind.
Light a green or gold candle as a symbol of gratitude and abundance.
Close your eyes and imagine the wind gently moving through the branches of a fruit tree. Watch ripe fruit falling naturally to the earth.
Reflect upon the unexpected blessings you have already received and express gratitude for each one.
Then imagine new opportunities arriving with the same effortless grace.
