Say yes to the call that takes you on an adventure, gets you lost, and takes you to out-of-the-way places. One morning, I headed out early from Hotel Glasgow, our final walking stop in Portugal. I was excited because this was the day we took the water taxi from Caminha, Portugal, to A Guarda, Spain. While I enjoyed Portugal, I had fallen in love with Spain many years before and was excited to return. That morning, after setting out early, I met some other pilgrims from the States while enjoying a cappuccino and my final Pastel de Nata, a popular Portuguese tart comprised of a thin layer of pastry and creamy custard. Although my favorite tart was the one at the coffee shop near the Bolhão Market, which, after the steep uphill from the Sao Bento train station in Porto, granted me the favor of two small creamy warm pastéis fresh from the oven, this one mid-morning on my journey was good. Leaving these decadent tarts behind, I was excited and curious about the upcoming food, adventure, and treats in Spain.
