Bieg-Olmai, the wind god of the Sámi
people, hails from the arctic lands of Sápmi,
which span Finland, Sweden, Norway, and
Russia. A fierce guardian of the winds,
Bieg-Olmai is said to trap them in an
underground cavern, releasing them with
a shovel to freshen the land. Ancient Sámi
shamans would offer a shovel to appease
this powerful force and calm storms.
